About Us

What We Believe

We believe in an inerrant perfectly preserved Word of God that we use as the foundation to all that we believe, preach, and practice. We use only the King James Bible for all teaching, preaching, and practice.

We Believe that we are all born sinners(Romans 3:23), and that due to our sin, there is a debt we must pay in the form of punishment in Hell.(Romans 6:23) God knew this to be the case, and to offer us a way of escape he sent his Only Begotten Son, born of a virgin, to live, die on a cross, and rise again to take our debt on himself.(John 3:16, Romans 5:8) We can receive this pardon from sin, only by grace and through faith in Jesus Christ Alone for Salvation.(Romans 10:9-13, John 14:6)

We believe that those that are saved, known as the church, are now given the job of reaching the world with the gospel. (Matthew 28:19-20, 2 Corinthians 5:18-19)

These are some very basic foundational principles that you will likely hear mentioned in any service. This barely scratches the surface of the doctrine we find in the Scripture. If you have further questions, or would like a more complete statement of faith, please feel free to ask, and we will do our best to get back to you in a timely manner.

Our Story

Safe Harbor Baptist Church is a young church plant started in February of 2023. This church was planted out of a God given burden put on our pastor back in 2021. God has graciously supplied for the needs to plant this church, and we are excited to see how it will grow in the days to come. We are just normal people. We are only sinners saved by the grace of God. We seek to simply serve God, and give him all the glory in and through our church.

Our Pastor

Elijah Helms

My name is Elijah Helms. I was saved at 11 years old at my home church, Maple Grove Baptist Church in Matthews, NC. My wife and I were married in September of 2013 and God has blessed our home with 4 children: Samuel, Josie, Evie, and Gideon.

The Lord began to burden me to preach at the young age of 13 years old. At 14 he began to work on my heart to serve him wherever and however I could and I surrendered to go preach wherever in the world the Lord may lead me. Through the years, the Lord continued to work on my heart for Alaska. The Lord allowed us to serve in Southeast Alaska for a couple years before moving to Cordova to church plant. I am excited to see how the Lord may grow the work here.  Cordova has become our home, and we are thankful for the open door that has been given to us!
